I Love To See The Temple....

Steve and I were released as Family History Center Directors on Sunday, so no more Tuesday nights, and surprisingly I was pretty bittersweet about it. But I know we are getting new callings, the Bishop is just waiting a few weeks I guess for Stake approval, I honestly don't know. But I do know we are definitely getting new ones. I also have to teach the Relief Society Lesson on the 4th Sunday....I am soooo nervous!! The only teaching I have done in the church is for Nursery and that was a while ago! I struggle getting a 5 minute talk off the ground...what am I gonna do with 35 minutes!? Very nervous but at least I have a great talk from Pres. Monson on temples as my lesson plan.
Now onto the main point of my blog, last Saturday Steve and I went to the temple in Melbourne and were sealed as husband and wife for time and all eternity. We had a beautiful speech at the beginning and when they asked who I wanted to represent my mother I cried a bit, but then Steve held my hand and I was fine. Bishop Bowley and his wife Dianne were there, as well as Craig & Tina Lowe, Gerry and Juile Fanaro, Frank Cooke, and Mario and Janine Sedlar. So we had a nice little gathering. I am so glad that so many people drove all that way to support us. Steve and I stood in the middle of two mirrors and were pointed to the fact that we see ourselves only once, but we can see our partners reflection go forever...and it is symbolic of how we are together forever. I can remember doing the same thing with my parents and brother when we were sealed as a family in DC many years ago. I can't explain the feelings I had that day except to say so peaceful, and excited. I am comforted at the fact that someone wants to spend eternity with me. And am so happy that Steve wants to go to the temple often. I know that if we do, our marriage can only benefit. Steve's parents didn't come, but supported us, we told them they could come but they would have to hang out outside, and as there isn't much to do and it is winter they decided they would be more bored than anything, which is probably true lol. They have done a lot of Steve's family history and I mean A LOT, and Steve is very keen to start doing temple work for those people. And I am too, as I don't really know what is going on with my own family...and while we don't have small children to worry about, going to the temple is easier...then there will come a time where I am sure we won't get to go as often, and then in our later years I am sure we will go more again.
After all the days events we went outside to take a few photos and then we were going on to lunch. We had brought our camera and Dianne had brought hers. So we had her a Tina take a few photos...well they were laughing so hard and so were we....I don't think any of the ones on ours turned out because we are either not smiling or making funny faces because we are laughing so hard. I was standing with Steve posing, and then just tipped right back, lol lost my balance right there, so I am grabbing him trying to hold myself up and it just isn't working! It was sooo funny and after that we just gave up on photo taking because we were all starving. It was a beautiful day though...no a cloud in the sky and the sun shining brightly. I couldn't have asked for a better day really.
I am so grateful for temples and how close we are to one. It wasn't always the case in Australia. Everyone used to have to travel to New Zealand for the temple visits, and then in the 70's I believe they built Sydney, and it wasn't until ~2006 that Melbourne was completed. So lucky us only had a two hour drive rather than an overseas trip to NZ.

Other than that not much else in the news category. Just going to work, coming home, trying to save a little money. Big bill week this week...it seems that all our bills come due at the same time this month but last month they were all spread out...not sure how that happened. Oh well...the joys of being an adult!!

  1. Mandi! Question ... you mention that you needed to choose someone to stand in for your mom. Had your parents been able to be there, would they have been able to go to the ceremony? I'm learning these things slowly ... be patient with me!
